Happy Reformation Day
On this date in the year 1517, Martin Luther nailed on the wall of the Wittenberg Castle his 95 thesis. He disagreed with the corruption he found in the Middle Ages Catholic church, the selling of indulgences, pluralism, and absenteeism.
He coined the phrase: Sola Scriptura. This Latin phrase means the Bible alone. He also translated the Bible into German, which was open rebellion against the Church since Bible had to be in Latin alone.
We are choosing to celebrate our Reformation Day with brats, red cabbage, and spaetzle. I will be making for dessert a chocolate mayonnaise cake... yummy!! If you would like to know more about the Reformation I bumped across a great two part series on YouTube simply giving the facts concerning the Reformation.
